U-TASK at UMCU (Utrecht Netherlands)

U-TASK is based in Utrecht, The Netherlands in the facilities of University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU). U-TASK is a collaboration between TASK and UMCU for Early Clinical Development clinical trials (Phase I, FIH, FIM) with a focus on six Strategic Research Programs:

  1. Circulatory Health
  2. Brain
  3. Oncology
  4. Infection & Immunity
  5. Child Health
  6. Regenerative Medicine

This collaboration combines the research knowledge of TASK with internationally renowned researchers, in an extensive clinical facility.

TCRC facility SA
South Africa

TCRC (Cape Town)

TCRC is a registered 24 bed hospital for the conducting of Early Clinical Development (ECD), PK and other in-patient trials. It is one of only two units of its kind in the whole of Africa and competes at an international level. The site has been audited and named a Strategic Site for Early Clinical Development by IQVIA, a large multinational contracts research organization (CRO).

  • Accreditations and registrations

    We’re proud of the accreditations and registrations the unit has received:

    • South African Department of Health inspected and registered hospital
    • IQVIA Strategic Partner Site for ECD
    • Aids Clinical Trial Group (ACTG) approved
    • Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) inspected
    • Noted by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) of South Africa as a Singular Entity Facility for its Early Bactericidal Activity (EBA) tests

    TASK’s sites feature a range of facilities including:

    • Sample processing facilities with centrifuges and refrigeration
    • Central time monitored for IP protocol adherence
    • Central temperature monitoring (with Cloud backup and alarm systems)
    • Onsite nursing staff equipped and skilled in medical emergency management
    • Emergency power infrastructure
    • Dedicated participant transport
    • CCTV monitored, access-controlled and on site, off street secure parking
    • Doctor examination rooms
    • Clinical procedures general ward with lung function equipment
    • Trial pharmacy for storage & dispensing of Investigational Products
    • Dedicated sample processing lab
    • In-house pharmacy registered with the South African Pharmacy Council and Department of Health (DOH) – (Brooklyn Chest Site & TCRC)
    • Infection controlled participant wards ventilated via negative air pressure and sealed from main centre by automated infection control double doors – (Brooklyn Chest Site & TCRC)
    • Outsourced on site specialised catering service ensuring adherence to the nutritional needs of trial participants (TCRC)
