Driver / Clinical Trial Assistant | All TASK Sites

Overall Purpose of the Position:
The Driver / Clinical Trial Assistant plays a crucial role within the research team, primarily responsible for (but not limited to) transporting participants, investigational products (IP) and study specimens as required per study and TASK standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Additionally, the role involves supporting study and site administrative tasks including, basic data capturing, preparing and maintaining source files and investigator site files according to policy, standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines. The ideal; candidate will prioritize safety and possess good communication skills

Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Transporting:
• Safely transporting volunteers, staff and TASK visitors between designated locations.
• Working with the recruitment team on participant scheduling and communicating study appointments to participants.
• Collecting and distributing participants’ folders, x-rays, other medical documentation from clinics and other relevant locations.
• Collecting and distributing any other TASK business related goods.
• Safely transporting sputum specimens and other biological samples as required
• Following established protocols for handling and transporting human biological samples to maintain sample integrity.
• Adhering to guidelines governing transportation and handling of biological samples.
• Adhering strictly to transportation schedules to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines governing road traffic transportation.
• Communicating effectively with team members to assist coordination of transportation logistics.
• Ensuring driver’s license and Professional Driving Permit remains valid
Vehicle care:
• Conducting vehicle inspections according to company protocol and report issues
• Ensuring general cleanliness of TASK vehicles
• Operating TASK vehicle with care to prevent unnecessary wear and tear or damage
Administrative and other:
• Assisting with preparing, updating and maintaining tracking spreadsheets, study logs and participant schedules
• Assisting the study team with preparing clinical trial documentation and maintaining study site files
• Sorting and preparing source document files
• Capturing and processing data when required
• Conducting telephonic visits for studies depending on delegation
• Interacting and liaising with City and DOH clinic staff on screening patients and enrolled participants
• Adhering to ethical standards and Good clinical practice in all volunteer interaction.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality to protect participant personal information and medical information.
• Acting as a Direct observation therapy representative to trial participants
• Performing other duties as required, including assisting team members on various internal projects and at other sites, liaising with other internal TASK departments such as IT Helpdesk, HR, Quality and Regulatory and coordinating participant reimbursement and reconciliation thereof, site cash-up and petty cash management.

Ideal Requirements
• Matric certificate; with relevant Medical Sciences / Related field, Public Health qualification (Advantageous)
• Valid Code 08 (B) (Manual) drivers’ licence with Professional Driving Permit (PDP) with clean driving record
• Police Clearance / No criminal record
• Driver assessment certificate (not older than 3 months) (Advantageous)
• Excellent driving skills – with a focus on safety and adherence to road regulations
• Punctual and reliable with ability to work flexible hours and at other TASK sites as and when required
• Previous experience in clinical trials or similar field (Preferred)
• Computer literacy – ability to use Word, PowerPoint and Excel at intermediate level
• Good literacy and numeracy abilities
• Good telephone etiquette
• Preferably residing in the Northen Suburbs or Surrounding Areas
• Previous experience working with a Route Planning App (Advantageous)
• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and other electronic logging devices
• Familiar with local routes
• Good organizational skills

Working conditions:
• This position involves primarily daytime hours, but occasional evening or weekend availability may be required.
• The role may require exposure to biological samples and adherence to safety protocols.
• Driving in various weather conditions and traffic situations is expected
