Overall Purpose of the Position:
To fulfil the role of sub-investigator or principal investigator in the conduct of clinical trials, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of novel treatments or diagnostic options while adhering to strict ethical and scientific standards.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Providing clinical care and support to clinical trial participants
• Performing clinical trial and protocol-specific procedures
• Working within and providing guidance and support to a multidisciplinary team, including laboratory, pharmacy, administrative and clinical staff
• Providing input and support to the management and coordination of clinical trials and related projects
• Ensuring that ethical and regulatory requirements related to clinical trial conduct are adhered to, in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements.
• Creating and/or providing input to trial recruitment plans to enable clinical trial timelines are met
• Monitoring participant safety and reporting adverse events according to protocol and regulatory requirements.
Ideal Requirements
• MBCHB degree or equivalent
• Current HPCSA registration as independent medical practitioner
• Passion for, and preferably experience in a clinical research environment
• Good Clinical Practice certificate (Preferable)
• Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in clinical research will be given preference
• MPS or alternate professional indemnity (Certificate of insurance)
• BLS and ACLS (Preferable)
• Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends.
• Flexibility to travel and work at the various TASK sites within Cape Town as and when required on a regular basis.
